About us

What is The Music Hub?

The Music Hub is a social enterprise musical instrument and supplies business. We believe in creating profit for purpose: running a sustainable business that invests its surplus in delivering social value and impact. We combine this core value with our passion to support music education and inspire and nurture the future generation of musicians. So we reinvest our profits from selling musical instruments primarily in youth music education services.

David HuntDavid Hunt, Proprietor, is a drummer and percussionist with a long professional history in the music business working during his career for some leading brands in manufacturing and distribution. Passionate about ensuring the future generation of young musicians, David is also a fundraiser for Music For All, the charity of the musical instrument industry. David is married with two sons, both of whom are budding musicians themselves.

Why did we form a social enterprise?

We have over 30 years’ experience in the manufacturing, distribution and retail of musical instruments. We firmly believe that business has a role to play in its local communities and in wider society and, as musicians ourselves, we know the vital role music plays in education. That’s why everything we do helps to support the service provided by hubs and or fledgling community music programmes across the country.

As a sole trader business, there is no formal legal requirement for The Music Hub to produce or be governed by any governing documents. However, we wanted to set out our ethos and principles for our business publicly for customers, suppliers and member organisations. This document establishes the purpose, vision and values of The Music Hub, definitions of beneficiaries and the business’ activities, as well as details of how surplus is reinvested for the benefit of the community.

Why we believe music education is important

The UK has always led the field in the education and development of some of the finest musicians, songwriters and composers in the world. We believe that music education is vital in ensuring future generations of musicians are able to enter the profession fulfilling real jobs with real potential. Schools and music hubs have a critical role to play in developing the future generation of musicians both in teaching the fundamentals of music theory and in growing performers; solo and ensemble.

What do we supply/ sell?

Anything and everything that’s music related. Instruments, effects and studio equipment, PA, lighting, staging. We’ll help source anything our customers need. We also consider part exchange and have a range of pre-loved instruments for sale.

Who can buy from us?

Anyone! Whatever your requirements, we’ll be happy to see how we can help and we’ll donate all our surplus to music education.
